Michael Pinsky takes the combined roles of urban planner, activist, researcher, resident and artist. Using the mediums of video, performance, mapping and programming, Pinsky responds site-specifically to physical and sociological space. Context is crucial, providing both the content and the platform for his work.

Current projects include; Panacea an ACE funded exhibition touring to the CCC, Tours, Galerie d’art Contemporain, Chinon, Archilab, Orleans, Le Parvis, Ibos France, the John Hansard Gallery and Cornerhouse. In Transit (developed at the V2 Lab, Rotterdam), shown at the; Institute for Contemporary Art, London, Economist, London, Armory Center of the Arts, Los Angeles; Cornerhouse and Rotterdam International Architectural Biennial. Public commissions in; Oxford, Artpoint, Modern Art Oxford, Newcastle Nexus, Art on the Riverside, East Anglia COAST, Commission’s East, Darlington ACE, Gillespies, Leicester Public Art Leicester, London Creative Lewisham, Luton Sustrans, ACE and Bristol NHS, Legible City.

Recent projects include; Transparent Room, an ACE funded installation which toured venues including Leeds City Art Gallery, Watershed and the Contemporary Art Forum, Canada. Symposium, part of Rivercommissions for Hull Time Based Arts. Feedback, premiered in Weimar, developed at ZKM, Karlsruhe and Ecole d'Art d'Aix-En Provence.

Dr Michael Pinsky graduated from the Royal College of Art and is Senior Lecturer at East London University. He has given public talks at the; BALTIC, RCA, Best of Heritage, Dubrovnik and Wiretap, Rotterdam. He received an Art for Architecture award from the RSA and his exhibition Pontis was shortlisted for the prestigious Gulbenkian Museums Award.
