Crawl examines the diverse communities that co-exist in public swimming pools. The swimming pool is both a public and an intimate space. Many people come in for a specific time and activity. Though they occupy the same physical space, they exist in a different time and social framework. Many of their activities are incompatible. Through the use of video projection the pool becomes a tropical sea where the pool users become the inhabitants of a fictional world. The large disc resembles a giant experimental Petri dish, and the swimmers in the pool appear to be bacteria. Their search for fitness and health instead developing into a frantic and never-ending cycle. Info >
