Detailed line drawings of students’ rooms in Newarke Close, outlining furniture will be constructed in neon on the exterior wall of the building. This process will transfer the ‘personal’ domain to the ‘public’ domain. The final sculpture would celebrate a particular students’ life. The drawing will freeze this moment in time and will be accurate enough to give a clear indication of their possessions. These objects will date in time allowing people to guess the time that the artwork was erected. This sculpture is concerned with the most pressing issues that student’s deal with when they first leave home, which tends to be more about domestic survival than academic success. The artwork will become a monument to particular students, picked by random, whether they become a great ‘success’ or carry on unknown within the mass of society.
