All the Tyres from Iceland

All the Tyres from Iceland transforms discarded tyres—normally treated as waste—into sculptures. Drawing on the journey of tyres shipped from Iceland to the Port of Amsterdam for recycling, the project exposes the global systems that move materials and create value from what is considered worthless.

By borrowing tyres before they are dismantled, the artwork reconfigures them—stacked, suspended or floating—without altering their form. Each sculpture is titled by its “negative value,” highlighting the paradox of waste as both burden and resource. Through these minimal yet monumental structures, the project invites viewers to rethink the lifecycle of materials and the economies that shape what we discard.

A S+T+ARTS project in partnership with WAAG and the Port of Amsterdam.
