The Final Bid
The Final Bid challenges the convenience with which we acquire new items while perfectly usable objects remain unwanted in homes. This ‘on-line’ auction features chairs being bought and sold, transforming them into dynamic sculptures that evolve as the heights of the chairs rise with increasing bid values.
Within the gallery, the sculptural display interrupts the journey of reuse. These chairs, having previously resided in various households, will eventually find new homes. The aesthetic experience is generated by capturing the byproduct of this exchange process. In essence, the exhibition is formed by borrowing assets from the local community in return for providing a valuable service, highlighting the potential for creativity and sustainability in reimagining discarded objects.
