Viral Planting

The image of a virus emerging from a mass of plastic flowers disintegrates on closer inspection. Viral images, appropriated from the media, have been magnified to the point where their surface breaks down into pixels. Each of these images provides the structure for a bed of plastic flowers where pixels are replaced by flower buds. Viral Planting operates in the changing landscape of humankind’s obsession with viral disasters and plagues. A new arrangement of flowers is made to reflect the viruses that are prevalent in the media. Each incarnation will form a new contribution to this growing archive of viruses
